I actually made a card to give to someone!!! My friend, Tracy, ran in a 10k marathon last weekend. She has not been running for long at all. She is a amzing! She is a SAHM of 2 preschoolers, coordinator of a large MOPS group, participates in bible studies, scrapbook club and about a million other things. And she still finds time to get out and run!!

On a more personal note: Laynee is going to start daycare today : ( She will only go for 2 1/2 hours per day. I just can't work with her here now that she is getting older (19 months) and I HAVE to work since my hubby is a student. I am sad!!! I am supposed to be a SAHM and now I am home and the kids are not! She's my baby!!!!!!!

Big Girl

Here is my SU! creation- as promised!!!! I really didn't feel good yesterday and was starting to think that I would not get anything created. But then this idea came to me!!! This is going to be one of the projects that we make at my Simply Scrappin' class in May. Class participants will get to choose between the Crew Kids Boy and the GCrew Kids Girl Simply Scrappin' kit. I will have more of the layouts to show later this week!

More Papertrey!

Are you getting tired of the Papertrey creations??? I PROMISE to have an SU! creation to post tomorrow!

I decided to buy a couple sets of stamps from another company primarily because I did not like the Mother's Day and Father's Day sets that SU has right now. There just weren't enough sentiments for me! And I have a bunch of art sales that I am in during the next couple of weeks. So I fell in love with the sentiments in PTI's Women of Life and Father Knows Best.

Recipe:

Stamps: Out on a Limb, Women of Life

Ink: Close to Cocoa, Berry Sorbet

Paper: Berry Sorbet, Pink Patterns, Whisper White

Other: Sorbet Polka Dot ribbon

Special note for my customers: Stampin' Up! has decided to extend the Occasions mini sales period until the end of June! Now you have an extra month to get all the amazing sets in that mini!!! ALSO- don't forget that you only have until the end of April to take part in my AWESOME giveaway! To learn more- click on Specials in the category section on the left side of my blog!

I am going back to bed. I am sick!!! But I will muster up some stamping energy later today I am sure!

Another Papertrey Creation

So my very favorite things about Papertrey are their beautiful patterned papers (they ideal for card making because of the small prints) and their super cute polka dot ribbon! So here is another quick and simple card that I put together that showcases the Everyday Blessings Paper and the new Lemon Tart ribbon. I cased the layout from a card that Sara did at Desperate Stamper Scrapbooking. The sentiment if from Women of Life and the flower and pearl come from my Pretties kit. FYI- I am planning a class using the pretties kit for May! Stay tuned for more details!

A fun cased card!

I promised my scrapbook club that we would make card this month in addition to our layouts. Well- I was a last minute Lucy and a couple hours before I had to leave- I had nothing! But I fell in love with this card: http://paperpleasing.typepad.com/my_weblog/2008/04/inspired-again.html

So I cased it!!! I changed the colors, the sentiment, the ribbon, and the type of flower from the pretties kit.

Recipe:

Stamps: True Friend, Polka Dot BG

Ink: Versamark, Pumpkin Pie

Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, Soft Sky Prints

Other: Soft Sky Ribbon, Build-a-Brad, 1/2 inch circle punch, Pretties kit

OK- I am off to an art show today!! Have a happy weekend!

Rubber Adultery

yes- you read that title correctly. I have a confession....after drooling over all the cute papertrey stamps and papers for months- I could not hold out any longer. So I placed an order!!! So today I made this pretty little Mother's Day card with some of my new goodies. Everything but the butterfly and the White Cardstock is from Papertrey Ink.

If you don't know already- Papertrey stamps are clear stamps. The bonus of a clear stamp is that you can see exactly where you are putting the image. But I am being completely honest- when I say that rubber stamps give a clearer image. I found that if I pressed a little too hard on these stamps then my image would "mooch." However- I do love this Berry Sorbet color, the awesome ribbon and the cute font on the Mother stamp from the Women of Life set! So- bottom line- you will be seeing some more of my Papertrey goodies- but rubber stamps will always be my true love!

By the way- the butterfly comes from the SU! Occasions mini set: Essence of Love.

One layout- many looks!

Here are some more of the scrapbook pages that I made over the weekend. All of these pages use the same basic layout- but with different colors/paper/embelishments, etc. One is made with the retire Winter Bright Simply Scrappin' kit and all the other are made with non-Stampin' Up products.

One kit- many layouts!!!

I know that I am late posting today. I was catching up on errands and visiting with my grandfather in the nursing home. But I have lots to share!!! I have made 17 scrapbook layouts and 3 cards since Saturday!!!! And the cool part- it didn't take long at all!!! I have a couple tips for you:

1. Find a layout you like (in a magazine, on a blog or other online gallery, idea book, etc) and use it over and over. Change the patterned paper and/or embellishments. Change the color combo. But keep the same layout! No need to start from scratch with every layout! So while all the measurements are fresh in your head- browse through your pics and see if you have another set that will work with the layout.

2. Buy coordinating products!!! That means- buy products made by the same company. I usually buy all of my scrapbooking products from Stampin' Up! Then I know that the colors will match. But if you go to a scrapbook store and you find patterned paper that you like- see if they have embellishments, alphabets, and cardstock to match. This will make creating so much faster later!

OK- now on to some layouts! Now be prepared- I did not use Stampin' Up! products on these pages!!! I have had a kit from SEI since before Christmas and I pulled it out over the weekend and made multiple layouts with the supplies.

I did not use any supplies that didn't come in the kit!!! And I still have lots of patterned paper and a couple sheets of cardstock left! I love that I was able to make a Thanksgiving page with the Christmas kit!! So which page is your favorite????

Come back tomorrow because I am going to show you several scrapbook pages made using the same general layout.

Now get some photos out and get scrappin'!

48 hours without internet!!!

On Saturday morning- my Internet just died!! It was awful! My hubby tried fixing it and then he even called customer service. But no luck. So all weekend- I had to stare at the computer and wonder what was in my inbox or what fabulous projects had been posted on my favorite blogs. Torture!!! Luckily- I was the first stop for the Cox man this morning and now I am back up and running!

After my crazy week of sick kids- Scott was sweet enough to give me Saturday afternoon "off." No kid duty and no dinner cooking! So I scrapbooked!!! I made soooo many layouts! And I used a lot of older supplies that I had never touched. But I have to fess up....I committed Stampin' Up adultery! I didn't use my stamps at all!!! I just felt like doing something different. I'll show you some of those layouts later this week.

Right now I want to show you the card I made for Beate's weekend sketch challenge. I made this card using the Crew Kid's Girl Simply Scrappin' kit. I eyed this kit for so long and I finally got it with free hostess merchandise. Aren't the colors fun and kindof preppy?

Recipe:

Stamps: Just Celebrate

Paper: Basic Bray, DSP from Crew Kids Girl Simply Scrappin Kit, Wild Wasabi, Regal Rose

Ink: Basic Black

Other: Regal Rose Ribbon, White Gel Pen, Die Cut stickers from the simply scrappin kit

Stamping for Sanity!!!!

I got up at 6AM this morning and started stamping. I needed a little sanity after this past week! Yesterday was another crazy day! Can you believe that I actually locked my keys in the car?! And of course I did it while I was in a hurry and had all 4 kids! I took Danika with me to my MOPS meeting. She was too sweet and just sat next to me the whole time eating strawberries. Even when I got up to do my testimony- she stayed put. Giving my testimony was a very rewarding experience but it was also very emotionally draining. A nap would have been nice! But when I got home I had to cut all the paper for my class. Then when Laynee got up from her nap- she had a fever. About an hour later- I got a call from Kyler's school that he had a fever of 104! With 3 out of 4 four of my kids sick- I decided to cancel my class : ( And then off to Urgent Care. If you are keeping count- this is the third time in the past 2 weeks! The doctor just thinks that Laynee and Kyler have a virus and should get lots of rest. Easier said than done!!! By the time we got all the kids fed and to bed- I crashed!!! And so when I woke up this morning I could hear my stamps calling to me. I had to come!!!! I finished one card (which I will show you tomorrow) before the kids woke up. The girls look fine today!!! Kyler still has a cold. But he is running around and acting fine!

Anywho- here is a card that I made on Thursday. I LOVE the way it turned out! I cased a card from Stamper Camper's blog. Just a couple notes: I do not have the nestibilities so I used my small oval punch to add the scallops behind the main image. I used my blender pen and re-inkers to color on the stamp. And the card size is 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 AGAIN!!!!

Recipe:

Stamps: Live your Dream

Paper: Afternoon Tea DSP, Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White

Ink: Groovy Guava, Soft Sky

Other: Small Oval Punch, Coluzzle, Chocolate Chip Marker, White Gel Pen, Brads, Soft Sky and Groovy Guava Ribbon

What a day!!!

My day was a bit crazy. But then again- with 4 toddlers- it usually is! The good news is that I managed to get some stamping done. And since I will be super busy tomorrow with MOPS and teaching a class- I am posting early!

First- the card.

I used the Bloomin' Beautiful set again. I did not originally buy the set. But- I have been practicing my water coloring and I really needed a good set to color in. And I am loving it! I think that is would be another good card to give on Mother's Day. Or it would make a great get well card. Anywho- I stamped the vase of flowers 2 times again in black stazon (how did I ever live without this ink?). I colored it with Pretty in Pink, Certainly Cerlery and Going Gray. Then I cut a few flowers out and popped them up on my main image. My husband says "wow! I love those popping flowers!" Isn't he a good man?! I am personally loving the ribbon! I am a ribbon freak and this particular ribbon treatment is so cute! It works well with the Pretty in Pink Organdy ribbon. The cardstock colors are Basic Gray, Basic Black, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White. Card size is 4 1/4 x 4 1/4- again!

Now on to my day-

This morning my day began with my phone ringing at 6 am. It was a wrong number. Later I had a customer coming to pick up an order. I accidentally mistyped my address and she was driving around the neighborhood for 20 minutes and finally went home to call me. Ooops! The kids were 30 minutes late for school. I decided to make one quick card while Laynee (19 months) was still up. No fun! While I was working- she took all my catalogs off the shelf and threw them. Then she got on my computer and pounded on it a bit. And at one point I caught her with my scissors. Yikes!! In the afternoon, my cousin who is visiting from New York- comes to take us to lunch at my favorite Mexican restaurant. In the middle of lunch, my hubby gets a call that Danika has a fever of 103 and must be picked up right away. So he goes to pick her up while we finish our lunch. That's when Laynee decided to throw up her entire lunch!!! We had to strip her down and basically run out of the restaurant!! Scott took her home while I took Danika to Urgent Care. It was amazingly fast!!! It turns out that her tonsils are infected. This explains why she was so tired yesterday. She will have to stay home tomorrow and I am going to MOPS where I am scheduled to be a speaker!!! And that class I have tomorrow- I haven't even cut the paper! In fact UPS just barely delivered the supplies- that I almost forgot to order!

Now wouldn't it be fun to be a fly on the wall in our house?! You would find plenty to eat on the kitchen floor! Especially under the high chair!

Little Swimmers and Mother's Day

Laynee had a GREAT time swimming yesterday. It was her first time going swimming since learning to walk and she just walked right into the water and would giggle. She also liked the little splash pad. Danika, on the other hand, preferred to stay dry! I would get her feet wet but that was it. But she did look cute with her pigtails and her sunglasses!
I love this card that I made a couple of days ago with my Bloomin' Beautiful set! It is a 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 groovy Guava base. This has become my favorite card size (thanks Beate!). I used my favorite DSP- Afternoon Tea. Then I stamped the flower twice in Black Stazon on Whisper White. I colored it in with my blender pen and Groovy Guava ink. Then I cut a few of the petals out of one flower and put it on my main image with dimensionals. I don't have a Mother's Day sentiment : ( So I used the Rough Edges Alphabet to spell "mom" and then punched it out with my small oval punch. I attached a piece of hodgepodge hardware over the sentiment. Fun, huh? I am really loving my hodgepodge these days!!!
The kids are going to be late for school if I don't get moving!

All Mine

Here is the 2nd layout that my scrapbook clubs will be making this month. I used more of the Western Sky paper as well as the River Rock prints and even a little Ginger Blossom. This page will give them the chance to use the coluzzle and the hodgepodge hardware. The stamp set are Well Worn Alphabet and Wanted.

I am taking 2 of the kiddos swimming today with extended family that have flown in from New York. I just put my swimsuit on and all I can say is - YUCK!!! I hate swimsuits!

Have a great day!

A little of everything!

I have quite a few things to share today! First I was given this award by Kim at http://www.kimsstampinroom.blogspot.com/

Thanks a bunch Kim! You are too sweet and I love visiting your blog!

Here are the rules to the award:

1. You have to pick 5 blogs that you consider deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also contributes to the blogging community,no matter what language.

2. Each award has to give the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone.

3. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her or him the award itself.

4. Award winner and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of Arte y Pico blog,so everyone will know the origin of this award.

5. To show these rules. :)

I have become a bit of a blog addict lately- so it was hard to pick just 5!!! Here are the blogs I chose:

1. Di at http://dianagibbs.typepad.com/stampin_with_di/ - She is a very talented stamper with some of the BEST classes!

2. Cyndi at http://scrappychick.typepad.com/scrappy_chick/ - I LOVE her scrapbook layouts!

3. Heather at http://stampwithheather.typepad.com/stamp_with_heather/ - More awesome scrapbook pages and cute class projects!

4. Gretchen at http://gretchenclark.blogspot.com/ I love her simple card style and her digi scrapbook layouts!
5. Dawn at http://dawnmcvey.typepad.com/these_are_a_few_of_my_fav/ - I love her simple style of cardmaking!
Now on to some stamping projects! I spent some time scrapbooking yesterday since I have my scrapbook clubs coming up. This Wanted page will be one of the layouts we will complete. It is a simple layout. I used the Wanted stamp set and the Live Your Dream set (for the journaling block). I just opened the Western Sky DSP and I love the color combo: Ruby Red, Soft Sky, Blue Bayou, and River Rock!
This next layout I made using one of Cyndi's sketches from a few weeks ago. I am a little behind- but I save all the sketches so I can use them when I do get time to play! These are both of the pictures that we took when we went to Flagstaff to play in the snow back in January. All of the supplies are from the Merry and Bright Simply Scrappin' kit which they did retire. I did add some rhinestone brads to all the snow flakes. I made the large circle by tracing the largest circle in the Ginormous Pieces chipboard. The smaller circles were made with the coluzzle. I stamped the title with the Jumbo Outline alphabet. Then I colored the letters in with my Versamark pen. The I embossed it with Iridescent Ice embossing powder. It looks pretty IRL!

And finally, I have this very simple card to show. It is the invitation that I am making for my Hostess Appreciation event on April 10th. I am inviting all of my hostess over to my house for some free stamping projects and free product!
Have a happy Tuesday!!

Long Day!!!

What a long day I have had! First we all went to church. Then we had lunch, went to the mall, visited my grandfather in the nursing home, went shoe shopping for Scott, went to the grocery store and then spent the rest of the day at my parent's house. We were celebrating my dad's birthday. There were about 20 of us there for a BBQ. And my mom hired a guy to come and play the steel drums for the party. My girls LOVED the music. Especially- Makenzie. She danced for a couple hours! Laynee was especially fond of the food. She ate for a couple of hours! And Danika was quite fond of her new lip gloss. She applied it to her entire face- even up her nose- and then applied it to my brother's dog's face!! It was a fun day- but I am ready to crash!

The card is one that I made for my dad with the Zoofari set and the Spring Break DSP. You can't really tell from the pic- but the monkeys are recessed and the striped DSP is raised. I added the sentiment from the Just Celebrate set and finished it off with a little Hodge Podge hardware.

Nighty Night!

I'm Here!

I really didn't get any stamping done yesterday : ( But I did clean my stamp room!!! Now you can see the desk AND the floor!!
This is a card that I made last spring when I first became a demo. I was searching through all of my projects and I came across this one and thought "not bad." It is soooo simple and would be easy to make in bulk. I just used a square punch to punch out the colored squares (Barely Banana, Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink, and Certainly Celery) and then used my chocolate chip ink pad to rough them up. The stamp set is called "I'm Here" and unmfortunatly it has retired : ( But I think that I like this simple layout so much that I may have to try it with another stamp set....
Since I posted a baby card- now is a good time to say Congrats to my downline, Danielle! She had a baby boy on April 2nd. And his name is Vincent. She lives just down the street and I can't wait to see the little guy!!
Hope you have a happy Friday!

More celebrating

So here is another card that I made with the Just Celebrate stamp set from the occasions mini. Can you tell that I am in love with this mini?!!

This card is made with the same supplies and layout as cards I posted yesterday. The only difference is the dazzling diamonds on the butterfly wings. It looks sooo pretty in real life! Don't you love this color combo- Elegant Eggplant, Old Olive, and Almost Amethyst?

Busy day for me. I have to get the kids to school and then I have an appointment at a local art gallery. (They are having an art sale in a couple of weeks and they want me to be a vendor.) Then I am heading up to the Valley to have lunch with my grandparents. They are visiting from New York. By the time I get home, the kids will be home and it will be time for our crazy night routine. But after Scott leaves for work and the kids are in bed- I intend to give my stamps some attention. I am going to be stamping invitations for my upcoming hostess appreciation event. More details later!

A little sassy

I think that this Sassy Suzie set is so funny!! On this particular card- I stamped her three different times on watercolor paper. I colored them all in with classic ink pads and a blender pen. Then I cut out pieces of the images and stuck them to my base with demensionals. It is heard to tell in the pic- but now she is more 3d!!

I went to bed at 5pm last night! And I woke up with the same headache : ( My stamps are all feeling neglected and my house is looking even more neglected!! And my sweet friend Sara is coming over for a playdate today. Ahhh! I hope she doesn't have to use the bathroom because instead of cleaning, I am blogging! I am also a little nervouse about having Sara over since I am unsure of what to talk about. If you recall, she is the friend who's 2 month old passed away last month. But I know she wants to hang out with friends and get out of the house so I am soooo happy she agreed to come over.

I guess I best go rush and get those kids ready!!!

I am crossing my fingers that my stamps see ink today!!
EDITED TO ADD: Makenzie's fever is back : ( She shot from 98 to 103 after breakfast. Playdate is cancelled : (

No time to stamp : (

Makenzie was home sick today. She has had a fever since Saturday. My very sweet friend, Jill, was kind enough to watch Laynee for a couple of hours while I took Makenzie to urgent care. Turns out that she had a 103 degree temp and an ear infection. Can you believe that the doc gave her a prescription for codeine for an ear infection??! I decided not to fill that one. It seemed a bit much. So she is on IB Profin, Tylenol and antibiotics. All she has eaten today is one scoop of ice cream. Hey I had to bribe her with something while we were at Urgent Care!!

I have a terrible head ache. AGAIN!!! I get them almost every evening. And today's is really bad. It hurts just to move my head. In fact, it hurts so much that I don't want to stamp. Crazy!!! All I want to do is go to bed.

So I am posting this card that I actually made a couple of weeks ago with my flower fusion kit. I love those flowers! And there are soooo many in each tin! I hope SU makes these flower kits in more colors in the next catty because I want more!!! Speaking of the next catty- if you want to see sneak peaks of the new in-colors and a couple stamp sets- check out Andrea's blog: http://andreawalford.com/ She was lucky enough to get to go on the SU cruise!

Cute card- yucky picture!

This card is a case of one that Beate did earlier this week. I changed the stamp, colors, DP, and ribbon. But I kept the same layout because I think it is really fun. I made my card a 6 x 3 card. It is such a fun size because jyou can make 4 of them out of one sheet of 12 x 12 paper!
I still cannot take a decent photo of my projects!!!! I am in need of some photography tips! I have the tent and the lamps- but still I have lots of glare and shadows. Anyone have some advice for me?!!!!

Stamps: Just Celebrate
Paper: Wild Wasabi Tetured, Chocolate Chip, Soft Sky, Whisper White, Spring Break DSP

Layout for Jersey Shore Class

This is the 2nd layout in my Simple Scrapbooking class . All the participants will get a package of the Jersey Shore DSP and we will be making 3 different simple layouts. I want to show them how to use the same sketch and make it look different. There is no reason to start from scratch every time you do a layout!

These pics were taken when we took the girls to Legoland last summer. They has soooo much fun and I wish we could go back this summer! I am slowly by surely getting these pics in the scrapbook!

Some pretty flowers and some snow!

I have a couple projects to show you today since I managed to get quite a bit done yesterday in a very short time!

First I put together this very quick layout to showcase a picture I took of Makenzie when we went to Flagstaff to play in the snow back in January. Isn't it a great picture?! I had it blown up to 5x7 because I liked it so much. The page was made with the Winter Bright Simply Scrappin' kit. I know that it is retired- but I bought an extra won specifically for scrapbooking my Flagstaff pictures. I just love that they mixed pink and red! Wasn't that taboo a few years ago?

The next project is a card with lots of flowers fromm the pretties kit. I saw a card on Dannie Grave's blog yesterday that inspired me to fold the flower in half and add the cute half pearls. I used a different layout and color combo for my card and I really like the way it came out. I think it would be a pretty wedding card. The DSP is from the Ginger Blossom pack. I just got a new pack because I used all of mine quite a while ago. I am always excited to cut into a new pack of paper! The stamps are from the Embrace Life Set. And I colored the flowers with Ruby Red ink and an aquapainter.

Happy Stampin'!
