I have NEVER been on a diet. Until today. My hubby signed us up for some free fitness consultation yesterday. I wasn't happy about it- but I went. And, just as I suspected, they made me feel guilty about my eating habits (which are horrendous!!!). And so they challenged me to go on a 1200 calorie diet for 2 months. 1200 calories!!!!! Do you realize that if I have a heart attack today and go into the hospital for lunch- they will give me 2000 calories per day?!!! If I went to prison today- I would get 2000 calories. That means that this diet is going to be worse than going to the hospital or to jail!!
So for breakfast I had one waffle with a tiny bit of margarine and a teaspoon of low fat syrup with a glass of water (190 calories). That was 2 hours ago and now I am starved!!! My hubby says that if I drink enough water then I won't be hungry. I drank water. Now I just have to pee! And the Cucumber Melon candle in the bathroom smells yummy! So yummy that I want to eat!!!
I also have a splitting headache. Have I ever mentioned that I am a Coke addict? The soda kind, of course. Well soda does not really fit into my 1200 calories so it has to be cut. This is day 2 without soda. I am hurting!!! Someone please tell me that this is going to get easier!!!! Two months seems like a long time!
But the good news- I have made about 5 cards already this morning!!!! I would show some to you, but neither of my camera batteries are charged!!! He he he! And, OMG, I just realized that my blog counter has gone over 10,000 hits!! I know that is nothing compared to some of the blogs I like to visit- but I think it is a big deal. A big enoug deal- that I am giving away Blog Candy (yummy, candy!!!). I am giving away a pack of Stampin' Up! designer series patterned paper!!!! You can pick whichever one you want! And all you have to do to win is leave me a comment on this post. I will use rondom.org to choose a winner at 7PM on Friday night. Good Lunck!

I am so proud of you for making steps toward getting healthier...I must admit that 1200 calories sounds very difficult, but it's great that you and Scott are doing it together! Can you have Coke One? All the caffeine and none of the calories!!
Good luck--Take it day by day:)
I promise it does get better. I cut out soda and lost 10 lbs from that alone. SERIOUSLY! I am also "supposed" to only have about 1200 calories a day and that lasted about 2 weeks.
Anyway best of luck and the soda deal does get easier. Um, don't eat the candle though - while it IS non toxic and all natural it won't taste very good. LOL
Good Luck! I saw Scott in the McDonald's drive thru Sunday morning on Ray Rd. I recommend fruit and a whole lot of water like scott said. I am up to 33 pounds lost since my surgery. I am doing 1200 calories per day as well and started going to the YMCA since we are only 3 miles from it. I gave up soda for 6 weeks and it was terrible! Now I have fountain drink diet coke maybe 2x per week. I had to do something because I was just out of control! Drink water and allow yourself something you are craving each day (in a small portion) so that it does not make you crazy!

Hi Jamie...
I have two words for you...Skinny Cows! They are the best treats!! Freezer section!
Smiles & Blessings,
Tracy
Atleast you have support with your hubby! Jeremy always cheats when we diet! One of the girls at work did a lemon cayenne cleanse. (Which meant she fasted and all she consumed was water and that lemon cayenne stuff) And anyway she was a bigtime soda addict and had a very bad sweet tooth and she said after about day 5 or so it got easier. She did it for 10 days and hasn't gone back to sweets or soda! So I hope it gets better for you as well!

Wow -- congrats to you on your diet -- 1200 calories a day is hard, but doable! Good luck!! :)
Jaime,
It will get better. You are awesome for taking that large step. 12oo calories does not sound like alot but once you get use to it and start realizing what food fill you up and keep you full you will be on the right track.
Also try Coke Zero. It is pretty amazing.
Karin
Best of luck and keep us all posted.
I think you should change the name of your give-aways while on this diet! Blog candy is too tempting for a successful diet! The hardest part is the first few days, then you get into a routine. Once you start seeing results, they are just as addicting as the tempting treats....hang in there! Thanks for the contest, maybe Blog Salad is a better name? Good luck!
Does this mean that we should eat before we come over for Mother's day on Sunday? :-)
Stay Motivated...you can do it!
Love,
Dad
good luck on the "diet" I give you credit for sticking with it. I know dieting is hard.
Congratulations on blog hits!!
Good luck! I need to kick myself into gear and do what you're doing. Can't wait to see your new cards too.
Congrats on reaching 10,000 hits!
Good Luck with your diet! It is one of the hardest things to do! :) Keep up the great blog. I love all the SU scrapbook pages!

You can do it! I'm the queen of dieting! (and still overweight!). The first few days are really hard, but it does get better and you will do well!
Good luck with the diet! I headaches will go away in a day or so. At least that has been my experience. Amazing what a little caffine will do and how powerful it really is! I sure miss my daily dose. I switched to hot tea while I was weaning off soda.
Thanks for sharing all your great ideas!
I hate diets! I'm on one too and I am trying to stick to 1000 calories until I lose 10 pounds and then go to the 1200 cal. It is sooooo hard. If you love Coke try Coke Zero - it's diet but it's good.
Well good luck and thanks for sharing all of your beautiful creations.
Grace
The caffeind headaches will go away in a couple days. I know they seem unbearable! Good luck with your diet. I love all your work, especially scrapbook pages. If by chance I win the "blog candy" my email is cbaker92975@yahoo.com
Just hang in there with the 'ol diet, I know from experience that it's tough the first week or 2, but just keep a supply of fresh fruits and veggies handy, soon you won't even notice. Good luck!
Well you've motivated me. I too am a coke addict Pop of course so as you try yours I will try to get myself heathier as well. P.s I also have four young children chasing after them all day i'm sure your diets not as bad as you think:)
I hate dieting - which I'm supposed to be on right now but just ate a candy bar! But it was just one of those bite-size candy bars (the kind you give out at Halloween)! You could get those little Betty Crocker cakes that you mix up in the microwave - they have 100 calories and are delicious! Skinny Cows are also good for dieters.

Wishing you all the best with the new way of eating! ...I need to do this myself!!
I have switched to a 1200 calorie diet and lost 38lbs! I use a website: http://www.caloriecount.about.com
It helps keep track of my calories for me. I am a soda junkie too so Diet Sodas are my new friend. I hated them at first but they are my love. You will find after a week or so that it gets easier...I lost 10lbs my first two weeks on the 1200 calorie cut. It is a lifestyle change though...Calorie count website will give you the calorie count you can eat to maintain your weight so you won't go over and gain the weight back. Email me if you have questions. I started in August 2007 and still going. I still eat Dairy Queen Blizzards, but only 1/4 of a large instead of the whole thing and then a lighter dinner. It can be a lot of fun to budget your calories and have the fun stuff you want. Be sure to give yourself a fun day. Date nights or Saturdays are the days I don't pay very close attention to my calories. Oh..I lost all of my weight with NO EXERCISE!! The calorie counting does work. HUGS...Feel free to email me if you want to chat or need support...I have done this with a friend...makes it easier.
I am not a very good dieter, so not the best to give you advice, but how about a cup of black or coffee with low fat milk to get the caffeine into your system.
Once the stomach shrinks, you will be ok with the 1200 cals. Best of luck with your diet. Let us know the outcome.
Best of luck finding the right sustainable habits for you! Definitely a challenge but definitely worth it!
Thanks for sharing the fun blog candy!
Congrats on your 10000 hits. And as a Weight Watcher who lost 100 pounds I want to encourage you to choose to eat healthy. I know from experience that the junk food does not satisfy. You will get the hang of eating more nutritiously for a healthy lifestyle.
Thanks for the chance to win.

Oh, I so need to do this, too. I am a total Coke addict. I even drink them in the morning. Good luck!
You can do it! Just keep plugging away - good luck!
Take one day at a time. It does get easier. Try not to focus on how much time you have left, just focus on today. Everyone is proud of you and rooting for you. Good luck!
Oh you are too funny...this post cracked me up! A diet that's..."worse than going to the hospital or to jail!!" Hang in there sweetie...it'll definitely get better, and you'll lose weight just by cutting out the Coke! One small tip...forget about the waffles & syrup! You need to start the day with a high fiber breakfast...think whole grain, high fiber cereal or whole grain toast, a hard boiled egg, and a smoothie made with unsweetened fruit and low fat yogurt. Seriously, try it! Hang in there girl...you can do this!
Thanks for this chance to win sweet candy!
~Brenda H.
Hang in there... it takes a lot to do what you are doing. Maybe coffee would help with the sudden lack of caffeine until you adjust. Congratulations on your 10,000 hits!

SOunds like you are having one terrible day with the diet. IF it makes you feel any better - been there and going through it. I have been on a 1200 cal diet since Jan 22nd. The first four weeks were difficult but it got much easier. I went on a strict diet because the doctor diagnosed me with DMII. So If I wanna have more children I need to do this. So with research on food filling, low cal, low carb stuff - the diet got better. I was a coca cola addict big time. I could drink coke all day long and not eat a thing. New Mexico doesnt have Circle K's let alone thirstbusters! :( So try this. Eat every 2 hrs from 7am to 6pm. Try not to eat a thing after 7pm. Hard for me cuz I was a night snacker. Especially when I sat down to watch shows when the kid went to sleep. Try egg whites, lean turkey, low cal bread, Fat Free cheese. and add lots of greens. Alot of raw greens has very little calories. For snacks I try to eat half of different fruits. If I eat the whole thing it wears on me and I get real sick of it fast. So try a variation. Deli Turkey, flat bread, and low carb yogurt have been my lifesavers! Good luck. BTW I have lost 26pounds since Jan 5th
Forgot to mention that coke zero had been heaven sent. At first I refused to drink it but after the doctor said NO MORE REGULAR SODA! I had to have my fix some how. Try it BUT TRY IT ICE COLD. You'll love it.
1200 calories seems like torture, but you'll get used to it. On the Coke thing........have your tried diet or coke Zero? I didn't like it at first, but now I can't drink the regular stuff. You will find yourself being very creative with your meals.
Don't get discouraged! The first week is the hardest, and it takes 28 days to create a new habit. I think you should add some protein to your breakfast; maybe a slice of Canadian bacon or a glass of milk. It helps you stay satisfied longer. Good luck!
Wonderful blog and wonderful that you're taking such good care of yourself.

Wow, good for you! I have a sister who is a dietician who looks in my fridge everytime she comes over and makes me feel really guilty! Good luck!

Sounds like a caffeine withdrawal headache. I have tons of ideas on low calorie things that will fill you up. I will find your email and send my list to you. I have been going to Weight Watchers for the past year and between that and the Hungry Girl's website, have learned how to eat correctly. Good Luck!

Your dad's comment was so sweet. It reminds me of something that my own dad would say.
You will feel so good when you start seeing results. I was a huge coke drinker and I know that a lot of my 80 pound weight loss was because I stopped drinking it.
Good Luck and Best Wishes!
